1080p describes a full-HD resolution; 4K offers a higher pixel count. Neither label guarantees how well a specific stream is compressed or how it looks on your device. Dark scenes and fast movement can expose differences that a still poster cannot show.
Check the full combination
For 4K, confirm the title edition, plan, device and app. A television capable of 4K may still receive a lower-resolution edition. HDR support is a separate question and can differ between the screen, app and source.
Choose stability when the connection varies
A supported automatic setting may adjust quality during playback. If interruptions continue, try a lower setting and compare before making more changes. A stable HD picture can be a better evening than a sharper frame interrupted every few minutes.
